The hero is affected in his daily life by petty superstitious fears, which gives the heroine an idea he is cowardly. She returns his ring, but later events prove his real mettle and she is glad when a reconciliation comes.

The girl is a school teacher in a cattle town, the hero a rather wild cowboy of good intentions but addicted to gambling. The girl saves him from a false accusation of robbery and this awakens his better instincts.

Bob Evans is the bashful foreman of the Denton ranch. He reads books and dreams of being a hero. He gets his chance when Gladys overhears Walling planning to smuggle stolen diamonds across the border. Finding Gladys' note, he sets out after Walling.

At the death of her father, Mary is called home to her little village on the Mexican border but is followed by the lecherous dancer, who soon becomes the head of a gang of bandits.

During a jewelry-store holdup, 6-year-old Millicent Hawthorne, the neglected daughter of a wealthy socialite, falls on her head and is carried home to be reared by Mother Gumpf, the leader of the thieves. The fall cost Millicent her memory, but at night she dreams of her former high-society existence, while during the day she works for Gumpf as a pickpocket and later becomes a cabaret dancer. A friend of the Hawthornes sees Millicent perform, recognizes her, and reports back to Mrs. Hawthorne, who has vowed to be a devoted mother should she ever find her daughter. Finally, after the Hawthornes rescue Millicent from Kraft, the lecherous cabaret manager, an operation restores her memory, and she delights in the love of her long-lost mother.

A ranchman sets fire to his trousers with a cigarette. In the morning the hotel attendant furnishes him with a pair borrowed from a cattle rustler. A note in one of the pockets gets the hero into trouble, but he clears himself and wins the girl of his choice.

A young rancher rides away on a half-broken broncho. He is suspected of horse stealing and pursued, but retrieves his good name by saving a kidnapped girl and recovering stolen express funds.

Wharf-master Buck Elliot is the leader of a band of murderous crooks. The gang shoots down a policeman in a wharf side scuffle, and Detective Donovan swears revenge on the murderer.

Steve McKay, a cowboy, is falsely accused of murdering the father of his girlfriend.
