Carabinieri is an Italian television series that aired on Canale 5 from March 2002 to July 30, 2008. The series is an action thriller with added elements of comedy, and has been compared to the soap opera format. It told the story of the police barracks located in Città della Pieve.

A couple is desperately looking to conceive a child and moves to Spain to get the help of a renowned doctor. Their plans change after they meet an apparently perfect girl that volunteers to carry on the pregnancy in their place.

When Salamandra dies under mysterious circumstances, Diego becomes the prime suspect. Commissioner Castrone, fueled by a long-standing personal vendetta, is convinced of his guilt. The only person who believes in Diego’s innocence is Ragusa, who decides to investigate with the help of the unlikely Alex.
