An ongoing series of films devoted to the most remarkable achievements in modern architecture, from the works that heralded the birth of the modern style at the end of the 19th century to the latest designs from today's top architects. By examining each building in detail, the series brings to light the role each has played in the history and evolution of architecture.

Irene is an ordinary married woman living in Amiens, in the North of France. She works in a bank where, one day, she finds herself duty-bound to strip a client of her credit card and check book for ten years. Later on, while walking in a park Irene notices a mysterious homeless woman wearing a yellow coat. At a time she witnesses her shoplifting in a store. One night, on her way back home, she is attacked by the mysterious woman.

A true story shot in a German Impressionistic style. In France during the Nazi occupation, Dr. Petiot (Michel Serrault) offered to help Jews escape the Nazis. They would come to his house, and he would kindly give them lethal "vaccinations" for their anticipated travel to Argentina. Then he would steal everything the brought with them (in addition to their up-front payment to him) and burn their bodies in his home-made crematorium.

Anita is a barmaid at the center of a community of street preachers, prostitutes, dealers and users. When a beloved friend (and young drug dealer) is caught by narcotics agents, Anita takes it upon herself to score for his struggling clients.

Paula Barretto (Juliet Berto) is caught in the underworld because her father was involved in the drug business, her brother is in the real estate scam, and her lover is an armed thief. Although she tries to get out of her corrupt and dangerous environment, it is not an easy task when even the police officers cannot be trusted, and the underworld has informants everywhere.

While France is on strike, Jean, a Parisian bookseller, opens his shop. A former trade unionist, he has in fact decided not to take part in the movement. However, a phone call from his friend René awakens his enthusiasm.

A former secret agent, who retired and wrote a first novel which tells the eventful adventures of his hero "Le Léopard ", comes back to work, reluctantly helped by an old maid.

Glamorous theater actress, Diane de Montalte, finds it difficult to accept that her 23-year- old gay, live-in son, Marc, wishes to live a more low-key life. While Marc travels frequently from Paris to Marrakesh to visit his lover, Dionys, Diane begins a casual relationship with the only somewhat dashing Roland.

In this creatively organized story of one "delinquent," director Patrick Chaput has put together a well-paced drama/thriller set in part against the dark by-ways of Paris. Seventeen-year-old Daniel grew up in foster homes in a rural area and those years contrast with his later youth in Paris. A filmmaker opts to interview Daniel for a documentary on delinquency, and that is how the young man's past and precarious present start coming to light.

A group of gay friends and lovers discuss love, sex, life and death as they exchange partners and try to dodge the bullet of AIDS in the drama Le traité du hasard. Patrick is a gay man whose circle of acquaintances provides the background for this story. They include Lou Rockfeller III, a flamboyant drag queen; Bruno (Bruno Anthony de Trigance), a former college professor who has since found success in the film industry; Daisy, a middle-aged author whose love life is a long litany of disasters; and Julien, a good-looking man who makes his living as a hustler. Julien was involved with Patrick at one time, and it turns out most of Patrick's friends have been with either him or Julien at one time or another -- which becomes a subject of grave concern when Julien develops a full-blown case of AIDS.

In Paris, Bertrand, 12, runs away from home. While trying to steal something to eat in a supermarket, he meets Boris who saves him from getting into trouble and lets him stay at his home. Boris is an odd sort of man and Bertrand is an odd sort of boy. They gradually become acquainted...
