'Basketball: A Love Story' is a series of 62 interconnected short stories that creates a vibrant mosaic of the game, featuring 165 exclusive interviews. The cast encompasses basketball's most prominent figures and explores the complex nature of love as it relates to the game.

David Greene is a New York basketball enthusiast, who wants to coach. He is then offered the coaching job at a small Nevada college. He brings along some players, who are a bit odd but good. Like Swish who unknown to the rest of the team is a girl. Preacher, who's being sought by some nefarious characters. And D.C., who's a fugitive. And along with some of the students at the college, he turns them into a contender. In order to give the tam the respect they deserve and some exposure, Greene schemes to try and get the number 1 team led by Bo Winnegar, to play them.

Through a dig into the definitive Bernard King vault, viewers will see why he was revered for his skill, work ethic and dedication to his craft. Highlights include 1984's back-to-back 50 point games followed by his legendary playoff duel with Isiah Thomas, along with other archival gems that will bring his career to life once again. This half-hour special will also include reflections from such contemporaries as Magic Johnson, Chris Mullin and longtime teammate in college and the NBA, Ernie Grunfeld.

When Bernard King arrived at Knoxville, he was only the third African-American ever to play for the Vols' varsity team. By the time he left he was a legend. Along with talented teammate Ernie Grunfeld, they gained national acclaim as part of what was known as "The Ernie and Bernie Show." Director Jason Hehir follows King's strict upbringing in Brooklyn, New York, the challenges he faced at the University of Tennessee, and the obstacles he overcame in the NBA as he looked to live up to the promise of his college career.
