As far as can be determined, Goha was Tunisia's first entry in the Cannes Film Festival. Omar Sharif stars as a naïve young man who is taken for granted by friends and family. Little do they know that he has more intelligence, tenacity and imagination than all of them put together. The story takes an unexpectedly dramatic turn when the man falls in love with the young wife of his village's elderly "wise man". Based on an ancient Tunisian folk tale, Goha boasts impressive production values and sure-handed direction (by Jacques Baratier).

Three well-educated North African women cope with sexual stereotyping in modern Tunisia. Amina a married Muslim woman living in Tunis with her two daughters. Even though she is allowed certain freedoms as a Muslim woman this is curtailed when she meets her old friend from school Aida.

The events revolve around a family consisting of 5 brothers (3 boys and two girls) and their old mother is bedridden. Each of them has his own problems and the older brother and older sister take care of the younger siblings and try to keep them away from everything that could harm them despite of their stubbornness.

A community of people rejected by society live in an abandoned residence located in a "Medina": an old town in Tunisia. Al Bab, a local criminal running the residence's prostitution circle, returns from prison on his wedding day. Fraj, his brother and the town warlock, falls in love with Ramla, his brother's future wife: He is the only man of the residence who has seen her face, as she is kept prisoner in one of the rooms until the wedding night.

The story of two girls. Saadia was raped after fierce resistance, which allowed her to take revenge by killing her attacker, but the village men's council felt she had been provocative and sentenced her to death. She is shot and the women of the village, transgressing the tradition, follow her funeral procession. As for Selma, who loved Hedi, she sees her father forcing her to marry another man. His lover comes back hastily but drowns. Became crazy, she succumbs in turn.
