En 1966 hizo su debut como actor en el corto estudiantil Primer día de clases, mientras estudiaba Ciencias y Técnicas de la Información en la Universidad Iberoamericana. Entró a Canal Ocho en 1968 como elemento de diferentes producciones como "Sube, Pelayo, Sube", la telenovela "Hermanos Coraje" y el programa "Sábados de la Fortuna". Fue contratado por Roberto Gómez Bolaños en 1972. Cuando éste comenzó con sus producciones televisivas, fue él quien se encargó de dirigirlas y hacer todos los efectos especiales. En 1973, al estrenarse las series El Chavo del Ocho y El Chapulín Colorado, se desempeñó como director y productor de las mismas, conservando su cargo hasta 1978, cuando fue desplazado por razones desconocidas. Fueron éstas, sin ninguna duda, las producciones que le dieron fama. Mientras tanto, también en el año 1973 dirigió la serie Nosotros los pobres. En 1979 dirigió su primer película, El Chanfle, relacionada con la serie El Chavo del Ocho. Y en ese mismo año dirigió Odisea Burbujas, otra serie de TV. En 1984 dirigió las series Hola México!!!, la telenovela Te amo y Sí, mi amor. En el año 1986 dirigió y produjo la telenovela Ave Fénix'. En 1986, produjo las series: ¡Anabel! (1988), TVO (1991) , Y sin embargo... se mueve (1994), Pobre niña rica (1995) y La vida de María Félix (1992), Atínale al Precio (1997 y de nuevo en 2010), 100 mexicanos dijeron (2001) Espacio en blanco (2006) y "Todo el mundo cree que sabe" (2009 - 2011)

Although he always wanted to become a professional soccer player, El Chanfle has settled for being the props boy and water boy for Mexican soccer's Club América, whose coach they both have trouble getting along with because of the Chanfle's heightened sense of honesty and cleanliness on the court, something the rigid coach does not share. When he is asked to cheat during a game he refuses and is fired from his job, but his friend, the team doctor will try to get him back. At the same time, his wife Tere announces to be pregnant, and trying to sell a gun in order to make money for their future, unintentionally scares a old man, Chato, with it, who now seeks revenge.
