Lee Won-woo

After my grandfather 's Baek-su (age 99’s birthday party) banquet, asking me to write an autobiography for him. Two years later, he passed away and left his favor as homework to me. I discovered the history of the past that I could not associate with his name. As a filmmaker, I frequently attended burials that were far from my life. I have been living in the United States for a while, and I have often come to think about the country and nationality.

Instability and fear in today's society is portrayed by incorporating the directors' personal story in this experimental piece. The film continually questions and reasons through the images and sounds of both the directors' personal accounts as well as actual records of Korean society.

On the road of horses that erased horses, I remember the time of the horses. Use the horse's ears and mouth to feel it. Blurry but wide vision, distant and near passing conversations.

I record my body experiance that repeat but always have to be different by photogram of X-ray images, laces and underwears. I made a sound for others experiances of my body that I can not see and feel as them with sound recording and export sound from film images.

Records and memories, seeing and showing. The place where the director was born and grew up, and two cities in Germany were captured in super 8mm film cameras. The work contains the process of finding one's own records, going through the city, recording memories, and returning to Korea to discover new memories.

Dream is obscured when someone remember that. Image is distorted when I touch the film. Death, relaxation and fantasy.

My dog, who lived with me for 13 years, had never seen the sea in her life. I wanted to go to the sea and say goodbye to her through film, without knowing the existence of the sea.

The beautiful sea is now out of reach due to the construction of a naval base, and uncontrollable changes are happening to my body. I want to swim freely, forgetting my heavy body and the sea that has been blocked off.

"Film is difficult. Film is expensive. Film requires a lot of steps. Film takes a lot of time. Film is dead." disagreeing is the beginning of this project. Three filmmakers, three stories, are improvised or sequential relay shots through a single 16mm Volex camera.

I visited with my camera to Gija-chon that was my uncle's house been for a long time after the phone number deleted. The break time for changing and destory or developement and loss. The space for Gija-chon and Eunpyung Newtown project. I prefer the breath than any word.

I was called “Director Lee” by people who were occupying a restaurant Duriban to against eviction of the restaurant by force. I could not shooting anymore after electricity was shut down by force in summer. From two years of my lazy and untied film, I wanted to recall the smell of the place and temperature of time.
