Rajam K. Nair

Kolangal is a 1981 Indian Malayalam film, directed by KG George and produced by D Philip and KT Varghese. The film stars Thilakan, Nedumudi Venu, Venu Nagavally and Sreenivasan in lead roles. The film is based on the story "Oru Gramathinte Athmavu" by P. J. Antony and depicts the life of the people of a central-Travancore village.

Story of three women who are subjected to various forms of patriarchy and exploitation by the men around them and the society at large.

Unni is the last male heir of a decaying feudal family in rural Kerala. His inability to accept the socio-economic changes of a new society causes him to gradually withdraw into isolation and paranoia.

To the great consternation of his mother, Appu, a bright young man, whiles away his time drinking and by being in bad company. To add to his miseries, his grandmother and aunt constantly belittle him.
