The film tells the story of the events in Western Ukraine before the outbreak of World War II, the rise of Soviet rule, changes in borders, and the disappearance of entire states from the world map. The film is based on archival documents, materials and memoirs of witnesses, representatives of the Ukrainian, Polish and Jewish peoples of pre-war Galicia.
Golden September. The Chronicle of Galicia 1939-1941

A documentary in two parts about the history of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army from 1942 to 1954 based on the testimonials of thirty-four witnesses and direct participants in the events (with over one hundred people surveyed). The film shows the Ukrainian insurgent movement from the perspective of "ordinary people," without pathos, mystification, and propagandistic clichés. The oral history reveals an unconventional view of the nature of the UPA struggle, letting the viewer feel the atmosphere and spirit of the age, while submerging into the whirlpool of turbulent events.
The Ukrainian Insurgent Army: Chronicles 1942-1945

A documentary about 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Ukrainian - Galicia). The film chronicles the Galician division from its inception to its end, featuring interviews with eyewitnesses and participants, and a photo-chronology of events in Ukraine, Austria, and Slovakia. It explores the motivations behind joining the division and the limited choices faced by participants, highlighting their experiences and the division’s role from an independent perspective. The title reflects the constrained circumstances under which the division operated, with participants having to choose between Soviet and German forces.
Within Destiny. The Story of 1st Ukrainian Division of UNA 1943-1945

For centuries, the peoples of Transcarpathia were isolated by politics, geography and poverty. Following WW1, as neighbouring states eyed the strategic and material potential of Transcarpathia, the region experienced a cultural renaissance. In 1939, as Europe prepared for war, the battle for control of the region escalated. Against a swell of political and military interventions, the republic of Carpatho-Ukraine was born, sowing the seeds for an independent Ukraine.
