An ex-Marine, on the lam from a murder charge, hitches a ride with a glamour-magazine photographer, who is travelling cross-country with her principal model. Tensions rise when the women realize the man with them may be a killer.

Dance-hall owner Dick Lane is in dire need of some big-name acts or he will lose his business. Several country-western stars come to his rescue by agreeing to appear on a TV special to be broadcast from his club.

Susan Hart, assistant to private detective Russ Ashton, is given a camera concealed in a hat box and assigned to take a picture of a woman. A gun is accidentally hidden in the box and the woman is killed. Susan is charged with murder, but Russ and his less-than-useful associate, Harvard, get on the case.
