Subha Mitra, aged 70, eccentric, insomniac retired seamstress lady with a an independent and career oriented mind set. Her only hobby is knitting continuously and furiously reminiscent of the turmoil within her. In the twilight of her life she spends a lonely existence abandoned by her husband envious of anyone's relationship even if it was her own maid, thereby creating a wall around her that prevented any socializing. This wall is abruptly breached by an unexpected visitor ....of whom she looks upon.

On a lunar eclipse midnight, in a desolate temple, six young newlywed couples and a priestess meet after a mass wedding. They sit in a circle and talk. This their last conversation - an exchange about life, death, beginning, end and every thing in between.

Barobabu is inspired by the life and work of Shishirkumar Bhaduri, the towering figure of Bengali theatre. Rather than a chronological biopic, the film delves into his emotional world — a complex weave of love, art, and personal turmoil. It explores his deep connections with two actresses, Prabha Debi and Kankabati, both significant in his professional and personal life.
