Biography

He was born in Tunja on April 3, 1942. During his student days he was dedicated to promoting and distributing films for the film forums of the schools in that city, wrote for the school newspaper and worked as an announcer and commentator on radio programs. When he finished high school in 1959, he arrived in Bogota and joined Radio Sutatenza as producer and announcer of a musical program. In 1960 he traveled to New York and worked as a photographer for several magazines and in September of the same year, he entered New York University to study Mass Communications for two years.

Four children, the oldest 12 years old and the youngest 11 months old, are traveling in a small plane with their mother, when due to technical failures the pilot has to try to land on the Amazon jungle of the Colombian Guaviare. The small plane falls headlong into the trees, dying. the mother and the pilot, but the children remain completely unharmed, suddenly finding themselves alone and unprotected in the middle of the jungle. With the idea of ​​returning home, they begin to walk without knowing where to go exactly. They have no food or help of any kind. Groups of indigenous people begin to look for them as well as members of the Colombian army without knowing if they are alive or have perished. After forty days, an indigenous search group finds them and hands them over to the authorities (based on a true story).
