Kuoth Wiel (Birthname, Nyakuoth Wiel) was born to a Sudanese mother, and father in Itang Ethiopia. Due to the war in Sudan her parents managed to escape to Ethiopia. In 1993 she lost her father to the war in Sudan and 1998 immigrated to the United states. Kuoth lived in Faribault, MN for most of her childhood. She attended Augsburg College Minneapolis, Minnesota and modeled part time. During her senior year of college, she landed her first movie role in The Good Lie in which she plays a lost girl called Abital Deng .
