The miniseries is based on documentary material about the actions of Soviet intelligence in Tallinn occupied by the Nazis.
1927. A retired Red Army commander Constantine Vorontsov is appointed a Criminal Investigation Department head in a principal city of province. An experienced repeater named Korney shows up in the city. Thanks to a successfully performed operation a place of a local thieves gathering place is now known. But Korney, foreboding of an ambush, changes the place at the last moment. Vorontsov doesnt have enough time to warn all his colleagues and heads for the thieves meeting by his own.
The corpse of a young beautiful woman, the owner of a well-furnished home, was discovered in the apartment. Inspector Gurov rejects the robbery version: nothing was touched in the apartment. Investigating the murder of a cash-collector, Major Isaev, a former boxing champion, comes to the conclusion that the killer is a boxer. To catch the criminal, Peter Isaev takes an unconventional decision. He applies to participate in the city's boxing championship, hoping that the criminal will probably come to watch the former champion fight. Isayev has to overcome each stage of the championship with difficulty: it has been five years since he left the ring...
Shurik Kleymenov, the son of a famous ski coach, goes with his father to competitions. At first arrogant, Shurik, watching the difficulty of the path to sports victories, eventually begins to understand that sport can become a worthy goal for him in life. Meanwhile, coach Kleymenov finds himself in a difficult situation: the downhill track he chose did not live up to his assumptions and one of the participants is injured.
A tavern on Pyatnitskaya street is a meeting place for all kind of criminals. The only way for police to infiltrate the criminals is to send an undercover agent to the tavern.
Two candidates are vying for the post of mayor of one of the major Western European cities - the Social Democrat Dr. Hayden and the "free nationalist" Alden. On the eve of the election, an independent journalist receives documents confirming Alden's connection with the secret services. He becomes the object of blackmail, but does not change his intentions to expose Alden.
After one horse racing Sunday the body of a jockey is found on the racetrack. Was it an accident or a murder connected to bet fixing?
