A. K. Velan

Sattanathan, a lawyer, mistakes Velan for Raghu, another lawyer. When Raghu learns about this, he helps Velan continue the charade since Velan loves Sattanathan's daughter.

Jayadevan is a blind poet who lives with his sister, her husband and their child. He leaves because he no longer wishes to be a burden to them. He decides to go to Trivandrum to seek treatment, but on his way he meets the crooked Vikraman, but later leaves him. Lost, he stands and sings to the goddess Sridevi, just as Sridevi and her friends have come to a park for a picnic. Not realizing he is blind, Sridevi slaps him. Several men who saw the incident take him to a local doctor, who happens to be the father of Sridevi. The doctor was also friends with Jayadevan's father, so he takes him in and operates on him. When Jayadevan is able to return to working, he creates a collection of poems, but Vikraman gets hold of it and publishes it under his own name. The poems become a sensation, Vikraman is to be honoured for the work, but Jayadevan manages to reveal the truth.

Kantheredu Nodu is a 1961 Indian Kannada-language film, directed by T. V. Singh Thakur and produced by A. K. Velan. The film stars Rajkumar, Leelavathi, T. N. Balakrishna and Rajasree. The film has musical score by G. K. Venkatesh. The film was remade in Malayalam in 1965 as Kavyamela and the producer of Kantheredu Nodu, Velan, subsequently remade it in Tamil in 1968 as Devi, starring R. Muthuraman and Devika.

Vaikuntam is a lad who lives in a village. He is a good singer and in love with a lass Nagammal. But Nagammal's brother is against their love. One day he ties Vaikundam to a tree. Vaikundam was rescued by a rich woman who was passing that way. She takes Vaikundam to her city. When she came to know that Vaikundam is talented in singing, she promotes him as a singer. She renames him as Geethamani. He becomes famous and also rich. He neglects his parents and ill treats them. His lover Nagammal tries to commit suicide because of his behaviour. How Geethamani realises his delusion and reconciles with his parents and Nagammal forms the rest of the story.
