Brava Gente was a television series aired by TV Globo in Brazil between 2000 and 2003, initially as a special year-end. The program was adapted from stories and national stories, and plays by famous playwrights, screenwriters and signed by a number represented by several actors and actresses. The genres of the stories varied each week with the style of each director or author. Brava Gente in the stories ranged from comedies and dramas. In all 53 episodes were shown, broadcast on Tuesday nights.

Directed by Isa Grinspum Ferraz, the series O Povo Brasileiro proposes a deep dive into the history of Brazil to talk about historical, social and cultural formations that constitute the identities of the Brazilian people. The production approaches from aspects of the native peoples to the formation of Brazil as a national unit, in a recreation of the literary narrative of the homonymous work written by the anthropologist Darcy Ribeiro.

Death Caetana, the terrible ounce winged, flying over the hinterland where a circus troupe led by an old clown comes to a village. The old clown open a thick book and begins the representation of an enigmatic novel, heroic and memorialistic: The Stone of the Kingdom. The clown is Pedro Dinis Quaderna, the protagonist of the novel, already aged, and the representation of the content will be his own memories. The old clown recalls the moment, "arrested and prematurely aged by suffering , after 41 years" wrote the novel in the public chain Taperoá.

João Grilo is a backwoodsman who tries to get along at the expense of the powerful in the city, who pretend to be respectful of morals and good customs and hide their sins. But when a band of cangaceiros attacks the small town, everyone has to settle accounts with God and the Devil.

Downtown Recife’s classic movie palaces from the 20th century are mostly gone. That city area is now an archaeological site of sorts that reveals aspects of life in society which have been lost. And that’s just part of the story.

In four stories inspired by humorous tales by Ariano Suassuna, each created based on phrases by the poet from Paraíba, we meet Helder, Fabiano, Pierce and Lorena, living different situations where, ironically, the lie is always the protagonist.

An abandoned tumbledown theater in the outback of Paraíba state is the initial setting of a film about cinema, which explores the testimonials of the novelist and playwright Ariano Suassuna and other filmmakers such as Ruy Guerra, Julio Bressane, Ken Loach, Andrzej Wajda, Karim Ainouz, José Padilha, Hector Babenco, Vilmos Zsigmond, Béla Tarr, Gus Van Sant and Jia Zhangke. They all respond to two basic questions: why do they make movies and why do they serve the seventh art. The filmmakers share their thoughts about time, narrative, rhythm, light, movement, the meaning of tragedy, the audience‘s desires and the boundaries with other forms of art.
