Alberto, who has a beautiful voice but is afraid to sing in public, and the shy Anna, daughter of a very rich shoe manufacturer, take "lessons of courage" in a school for the shy and end up falling in love. Their shyness doesn't seem to heal but due to a misunderstanding Alberto becomes terribly jealous, deciding to face the girl first and then the public who will give him an enthusiastic success.
A plantation owner's daughter falls in love with the handsome plantation foreman Andrea, but her father disapproves of the relationship. Andrea is fired, and he runs away with a native girl. To make sure that he will not leave her, the black girl gives him a "magic" potion... turning Andrea into her white slave.
During a party a drunken guest falls from the terrace, killing himself. The police inspector in charge of the investigation suspects all the participants in turn, and mysterious stories come to light.
