This anthology-style mystery series is part of the D‑5 PROJECT, centered around Detective Office 5 - a long-running private detective agency in Kawasaki. Each detective is known only by a number rather than a name (e.g., Detective 596, 532), with standalone stories featuring different characters and surreal, quirky cases.

A young school counselor steps into a prestigious girls' academy, only to uncover a hidden world of harassment, manipulation, and forbidden desire that the institution is desperate to keep quiet. Case by case, the girls she's there to help pull her deeper into the darkness behind the school's polished walls, and closer to a truth that will shatter everything she thought she understood about them, and herself.

Ren'ai Shinden is based on different types of forbidden love and consists of four different stories: Tsubasa no Kakera, Sayonara no Melody, Seifuku no Eve, and Unmei no Kodou.

As 507 stumbles deeper into a twisted quagmire of intrigue he discovers the sad truth behind the mystery.

The film's story poses the possibility that all of humanity, without exception, live in two worlds of existence: the real world and a second world known as "Hemu". Humans live their lives in Hemu when they sleep in the real world. Hidden in each person is another life of which he or she has no recollection of, except for nightmares which are soon forgotten upon waking up. However, there a few rare individuals who are aware of the existence of Hemu and the curious consequences it has on the real world.

In a small nook of Kawasaki Private investigator 591 and adultry specialist investigator 522 embark on separate investigations that leads them both to the same beautifician.
