This unique portrait of the life in 1919 Germany, filmed on location in Munich, describes the cases of different people from all levels of society: Factory owner Roloff, who loses his mind in view of catastrophies and social disturbances; teacher John, who is the hero of the masses; and Marja who turns into a radical revolutionary.

This documentary celebrates the pioneering labors of early Jewish settlers in Palestine. With striking visuals and a remarkable soundtrack the film records the technological and agricultural accomplishments of the pioneers and extols the idea of a socialist Jewish state. Footage includes shots taken at the Jaffa port and on various kibbutzes of the time; Lerski's expressive style creates an almost mythic image of the Jew in Palestine, toiling and triumphing amidst the sweeping desert landscape.

A reconstructed version of the sound film "Hebräische Melodie," in which violinist Andreas Weissgerber plays Joseph Achron's piece of the same title in Jerusalem, commissioned by the Jüdischer Kulturbund. The outdoor shots were taken in the Old City of Jerusalem in the winter of 1934-35 and the music was recorded in Berlin in 1935. The film was considered lost for years.
