Jeanne Cressanges, real name Jeanne Mouchonnier (born 6 May 1929 in Noyant-d'Allier (Allier) is a French screenwriter, dialoguist, essayist, and novelist. Jeanne Cressanges was born in a modest family of the Bourbonnais. Her paternal family was a family of plasterers-painters from Dompierre-sur-Besbre, Her maternal family was a peasant family of Noyant-d'Allier. Her father, Jules Mouchonnier, worked for the railways. She grew up in Saint-Sornin, in the Bourbonnaise countryside. Between 1960 and 1970, she was a reader at Éditions Julliard and a columnist at Les Nouvelles littéraires. In 1968, she moved to Épinal, to follow her husband. The Vosges department was the setting for several of his novels, like Les Eaux rouges and Le Luthier de Mirecourt. Apostrophes was a live, weekly, literary, prime-time, talk show on French television created and hosted by Bernard Pivot. It ran for fifteen years (724 episodes) from January 10, 1975, to June 22, 1990, and was one of the most watched shows on French television (around 6 million regular viewers). It was broadcast on Friday nights on the channel France 2 (which was called "Antenne 2" from 1975 to 1992). The hourlong show was devoted to books, authors and literature. The format varied between one-on-one interviews with a single author and open discussions between four or five authors.

A musician named Jacques Christens, is given a proposition by an old man. For ten million Francs he is asked to impersonate a certain Paul de Baer – a man who is supposedly exiled in the Amazone. Christens is told this scheme will save Mr. Baer from ruin. An adaptation of Boileau and Narcejac's "D'entre les Morts".

Sin with a Stranger
A pleasingly pump female gets behind the wheel of a car during a party game and has an accident. Now temporarily confined to a wheelchair, the girl is holed up in her apartment. Watching through binoculars, she sees a man in a Mardi Gras clownsuit fight with another man and flee. Somehow the clown ends up in the girl's apartment where the two make love. Later, he returns to her after the man he had fought with shoots him. Though his clownsuit is stained with blood, she allows him in once again and hopes that love has long last arrived.
