The DNA of Damnation is a documentary short on the making of the 2012 film, Resident Evil: Damnation.

Mika (Marie Ono), a Japanese-American woman, returns to her native Saitama hometown and becomes a therapist for a "nemuriba" ("a place to sleep").

A couple university students go camping in the mountains. When they return to Tokyo they find it empty. Lost in Shibuya their relationships start to collapse.

A street musician, Yui Kanzaki, and a stage actor, Junichi Nishi, meet one day at a street performance and are attracted to each other. Their relationship seems to be going well itself, but then Nishi gradually starts acting weird and then he disappeared. One day, after two years of searching for Nishi, Yui receives a letter from a person who claims to have Nishi's memories in custody. After visiting and watching the "Film of Memories," Yui learns about the secret that Nishi has been keeping from her.

A novelist Rihito Shiraishi meets Saki Honda, a somewhat eccentric woman, and he is attracted to her. Triggered by Saki's suicidal attempt and reading her diary, Shiraishi recognizes that their encounter was not a coincidence. United by an airplane accident, they start to face their true selves eventually, influencing one another.

The documentary includes: Character designs and character backgrounds; comparisons between Leon and Claire between Resident Evil 2; Firearms designs and the ideas that evolved into the backgrounds seen in the finished film.
