Two brothers - a business man and a musician , have nothing in common and live two different lives. The death of their father brings them together. To distract their beloved mother from grief they convince her to make dumplings for them and their friends everyday. This innocent request leads to unforeseen consequences.

The film is a journey through the amazing life of Alekseyev. He drank tea with Tarkovsky, got into the KGB because of Gagarin, competed with Kalashnikov and Vysotsky. One day, he will learn more about himself than he knew and could have imagined: about his talent, about the mark that he left in the destinies of other people. You can live your life again if someone loves you.

1947 ... The Savchenko family returns to Moscow from evacuation - husband and wife with Kostya's little son. They settle with Grandma Kostya in a huge communal apartment. Street meets the boy with a flock of local boys. Then there were: the division of the territory with the "Sretensky"; trophy movie “Girl of my dreams”; a school with separate education, camp discipline and essays about the border guard Karatsyup. And the monetary reform of 1947, when all of their savings depreciated in an instant, and the boys let out boats from banknotes in puddles.

The action takes place in Moscow, in the 70s. The characters have not seen each other for many years, but now they have met and are reminiscing about their youth, when they were students at the institute, jazz enthusiasts, and known as stylists.

Andrei Buslai, a drunken, morally degraded man, accidentally ends up in the apartment of the writer Pokutovich, where he meets Alina and Dragun. Under the influence of these people with difficult fates, yet kind and honest, Andrei begins his moral awakening.
