Boys of fourteen years old find themselves in the Suvorov school – someone thanks to family tradition, someone for the sake of high ideals, and someone not even of their own free will. Having entered Suvorovskoye, the guys at first do not represent the full extent of the load, and most importantly, the responsibility that will have a profound impact on their subsequent life.

The history of the series develops around three Suvorov graduates - Ilya Sukhomlin, Stepan Perepechko and Alexei Syrnikov, who entered the Moscow Higher Military Command School at the end of the summer, where each of them is awarded the rank of junior sergeant. Along with the Suvorovites, graduates of ordinary schools, without a military education, called "schoolchildren" - Dmitry Krasilnikov, Gennady Varnava and Nikolai Kovnadsky, enter the school. The third side is made up of the so-called "army men" - Evgeny Bragin, Sergey Gonchar and Stepan Prokhorov - who have already served as conscripts in the army and have more practice than theory. Later, Maxim Makarov, transferred from St. Petersburg for a fight with a colleague, joins the main characters. Aleksey Syrnikov, meanwhile, is being transferred to the Ryazan Airborne School, which he dreamed about while still being a Suvorovite.

Four guys from the outskirts of Moscow decide to make easy money - to overtake a car with stolen cargo inside. Not really thinking about the consequences, they make one mistake after another, and very soon they have serious problems with the law. Now there is no turning back, and in order to survive, four friends need to stick together at all costs.

The action takes place in Moscow in June 2013 on the eve of major geopolitical events and upheavals that, as a result, will change the future life of the world.

And the only way to get rid of them is for Fyodor to help them find what is holding them off on Earth and help them make a final departure. Things get even more complicated when Fyodor's own father appears on his doorstep. He was only nineteen when he died, and his closure is the fact that he left behind a son that he didn't really get to know.

Finding a loved one in the chaos of war is proving difficult.

Eleven comedic vignettes featuring conversations – some important, some less so – held in restaurants over coffee and cigarettes (how quickly time flies – cigarettes are banned in Russia’s restaurants now). The conversations are candid, and even veer into the territory of murder. In the final credits, the director apologizes to Jim Jarmusch, whose work (in the anthology Coffee and Cigarettes, which Jarmusch shot in pieces over many years) Oldenburg-Svintsov is clearly indebted to. Sex, Coffee, Cigarettes’s kinship with Jarmusch’s film extends to the fact that superstars play tiny roles in almost all of the vignettes.
