England, 1021: Born in a miserable mining town, Robert Cole swears to become a physician and vanquish disease and death. His harsh path of many years, a quest for knowledge besieged by countless challenges and sacrifices, leads him to the remote Isfahan, in Persia, where he meets Ibn Sina, the greatest healer of his time.

While on the move, Denis's patrol is ambushed. Finding himself alone, Denis steps on a mine and is left stranded in the middle of a barren desert. If he moves, Denis risks death: psychologically shattered, he must try to physically resist a situation from which he may be helpless alone.

The film follows two brothers over the course of a decade. While they begin as kids in search of thrills in the sprawling slums of Morocco’s Sidi Moumen, we witness their gradual, and ultimately shocking, radicalisation.
