Josef is a writer aged sixty, who thinks that nothing can surprise him any more. One evening, though, his phone rings and he finds himself caught up in a series of events that turn his world upside-down. His best friend – also a writer – tries to commit suicide; his young girlfriend Katka tells him she’s pregnant; and the man with hare ears – his alter ego from one of his stories – appears to him in everyday situations.

The story of a man who decides to leave his job and good position to return to his native region and become the administrator of an open-air museum. This step is primarily his personal rebellion against the abuse of his scientific work. It is only a personal confession in a conversation with his teenage daughter that brings him moral cleansing and a return to his lost psychological balance. A story of a young student of medicine, who arrives in a small mountain village after being accused for carrying out illegal abortion. The film reflects the moral decline of the society, where stealing in secret and making compromises against one's beliefs make up mundane reality. The filmmakers went to perhaps the furthest possible limits in terms of allowed social criticism in the 1980s. The negative picture is enhanced by its rural setting, since the Slovak village had been traditionally associated with strict morals and conservative values.

She seems to lack nothing: the socialist physical education provides her with all the necessary facilities to prepare for the Olympics, she trusts a responsible coach. However, when she returns to her hometown, she still considers whether she made the right decision. When she becomes pregnant, she finds herself at a crucial moment.

Now it is 1968, and he is a young man. When the Russian tanks come rolling through his village on their way to suppress the stirrings of freedom in Prague, he does what he can to ensure that he's in good odor with those who will inevitably come out on top. This meandering political drama is apparently an exploration of opportunism, but reviewers gave it low marks for clarity of exposition.

A remote cottage becomes the scene of a thrilling drama: two criminals who have robbed a car transporting payroll money break into the weekend home. They capture the residents and hold them hostage to protect themselves from the encroaching police siege. However, director Dušan Trančík is more interested in portraying social ills, especially ruthlessness and petty bourgeoisie, than in telling a thrilling crime story involving a double murder.

Tou former boxers meet in the ring again after years for a re-run of an old match. The old loser currently works as a factory executive and he is unwilling to reconcile with his old defeat. He challenges the old winner, whose job in a garage puts him on the opposite end ofthe career ladder. The match is a battle fought between two men who stand for two different attitudes to life. The confrontation results in the revelation that the winner is not always the one whose arm is raised by the referee after the last round.
