In Highland Park, it's Agnes Fisher and Harold Hope's wedding day. Mishaps almost keep them from getting hitched: he goes to the wrong church, then, one of the guests, Professor McGlumm, convinces him that the bride only wants him to collect his life insurance. Finally they marry and her family moves in with them. Harold is now convinced that he'll be poisoned at dinner. When further mishaps give him stomach problems, McGlumm rushes him toward the hospital. On the trip, all is revealed.

Ralph attempts to elope with Thelma against her parents' wishes. Ralph disguises as a teacher to take her off to a boarding school and there is a new and amusing gag where he gradually discards his disguise while walking along the street. Marvin, an insurance agent, fastens himself on to the young couple and succeeds in muddling things up generally, finally insisting on taking them to a hotel and sharing a room with his wife. Ralph gets around this embarrassing situation by getting the insurance man in his bed to talk business with him. The girl's father appears the next morning and Ralph is tickled when he insists that they get married, but the pest almost queers matters by phoning to the justice of the peace that his house is on fire and his wife murdered.

A "stranger from the city" arrives in a rural town and immediately causes trouble. A struggling father who is in danger of losing the family home to a mortgage. To save the property, the father tries to force his daughter—who already has a local sweetheart—to marry the wealthy "city chap". The comedy stems from a series of identity swaps involving the wedding veil. Two country maidens are involved; one is ignored while the other is wooed by the city stranger. The "unwilling bride" (the daughter) keeps swapping her veil with a "willing bride" to avoid the ceremony. The veil is passed back and forth several times until the city chap and the father's favored suitor are eventually outwitted.
