In the serial he plays the star fullback of his college's football team who gets drawn into an adventure when he stops to rescue a young woman from some thugs on a country road. Jack Hastings, a well-bred champion boxer, saves Thelma Everett from drowning and soon falls in love with her. Although he cherishes his moments in the ring, Jack gives up his boxing career to marry Thelma, whose wealthy father strongly disapproves of the match.

At a rundown seacoast hotel, Helen befriends Ralph Alden, a young man fighting off addiction and despair, as well as a three-year-old orphan named "Peroxide" whom Leon Roche, the proprietor, is rearing.

When heavyweight contender Battling Jack Riley uses the Bar X Ranch for his training quarters, foreman Tom Buckely becomes concerned over Riley's attentions to Frances Morris, the owner's daughter, whom Tom loves. Gerald, Frances' twin brother, confesses to a theft of money from the bank in which he works, and to retrieve the money Tom agrees to fight Riley for three rounds, to the disgust of Frances.
