A bunch of wagons are crossing the border. It's the Karla Circus, which, after a rough season in Germany, is gonna try its luck in Denmark. One day, Martin meets the oldest girl on the farm, Anna, and quickly falls in love with her. This, along with his interest in fishing, becomes a thorn in the side of the small community's largest cutter owner, who has until now been regarded as a minor king.

The protagonist is a jovial bus driver, well beloved by his passengers, essentially the whole community around him. The bus, however, is old, and needs to be replaced. The bus driver himself is also needed as a handyman for all the people around him, assisting with stray cattle, household machines, children's homework, errands of all kinds, and at one occasion, assisting birth. Progress is however leaving him behind, and the local county council plots on a solution, involving a new bus and driver. The community revolts, and the local midwife (married to the mayor) intervenes with all the locals to keep the bus driver, who ends up keeping his job in a new bus.

In the village Karrild, the Countess Sonia Hardenborg and a young unmarried woman, Marta, give birth to a daughter on the same day. Marta dies after birth, so Marta's daughter, Betina, come under the care of the countess. 17 years later, Betina and Countess Sonia's daughter, Maria, meet, as Betina is living in a home for orphaned girls, which is adjacent to the Hardenborg estate. The two girls become friends, and Maria invites Betina to visit her at Hardenborg, to greet her parents Sonia and Otto Hardenborg and her brother Count Flemming. Meanwhile, Betina's father, Frank Jensen, starts working in the estate's woods, and when the two girls come to visit him, he is shocked by the resemblance between the young countess and Betina's mother Marta.

At a convent school for young girls, no one must know that the organist Celestin is the same person as the operetta composer Floridor. But in the long run, it cannot be hidden. His bright student Charlotte has been chosen as the bride of a man she has never met – but during a trip to Copenhagen, where Celestin is supposed to protect Charlotte from the temptations of the city, he takes her to the theatre where his operetta is to premiere. And that is where Celestin's problems really begin.

A group of better-off thirty-somethings meet for a weekend in Knud and Beth's home. The host couple is prone to bickering regularly. The Danish resistance movement stepped up its activities towards the end of the war. One night, an English agent arrives by plane, is injured and is taken in by local resistance fighters. The agent and the resistance fighters plan actions against the Germans, but there must be a traitor among them, because the Germans are always very close by.

The three young fishermen, Svend, Knud, and Valdemar, have bought a new cutter, but haven't paid it off yet. It is a real fishing film, but it is not JUST a fishing film. They have been granted deferments from the military several times, but suddenly the bell rings and they are called up as sailors in the Royal Danish Navy.

Romantic comedy, based on the discovery that eggs from a particular island provide men with great virility and make them irresistible.
