Biography
Gregg Barbanell is an American sound editor and foley artist. He grew up in San Francisco, California where he became involved in theater while attending Washington High School. He initially studied theater at the School of Theater at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, but decided to transfer to their film school after a year. In 1977, he graduated from CalArts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film. After graduating, Barbanell found work as an assistant sound editor and within a year, was working as a supervising sound editor. Two years after graduating, he started a sound editing company called Mag City, Inc. It was during his seven years as a supervising sound editor at Mag City that Barbanell discovered and developed his natural ability on the Foley stage. After selling Mag City, began working exclusively as a foley artist.
