Biography
Dimitrij Plichta was a Czech-born Slovak film director, screenwriter, and writer, recognized for his contributions to Czechoslovak cinema. He studied at a gymnasium and conservatory in Brno, and after World War II, pursued aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague. Plichta began his career as a radio director before transitioning to film. From 1949 to 1970, he directed documentary and popular science films at the Short Film Studio in Bratislava, contributing to works such as Bábkové divadlo and Putovný tábor. In 1959, he expanded into feature films, directing Kto si bez viny (1963), his full-length debut, for which he also wrote the screenplay and story. His filmography includes titles like Šerif za mrežami (1965) and Láska neláskavá (1969). Plichta's work is noted for its exploration of social themes and human relationships, contributing significantly to the development of Slovak cinema.

A dramatic story from the setting of a youth de tention center. Youngster Jakub, out of delusory solidarity, gets convicted of theft and goes to prison in place ofthe "sheriff" of his gang. He naively hopes that the sheriff will appreciate his gesture and leaves the stolen goods in a safe hideaway to later divide them fairly among the gang members. This conviction gives Jakub the strength to endure the unbearable conditions in the center. But reality is often much harsher than naive ideals and hollow relations in the gang.

For nine-year-old Saša, the end of the Second World War is an adventure in which he and young neighbour friend Mařenka compete over who will spot the first Soviet soldier. But the boy causes problems when he lets two German snipers enter a house in which many families are seeking shelter. Fortunately, the inquisitive Saša also comes to the aid of Soviet soldier Váňa, whom one of the neighbours is accusing of stealing a pearl necklace.
