Known For

What’s it like to live with vision loss, knowing that someday soon you’ll never be able to see the faces of those you love again? This film is a survey of the lives of people living with visual impairments who have either already gone completely blind or are slowly losing sight of the world around them, but still do not give up in their pursuit of happiness and a life of positivity.
The Last Image

On call 24/7 to respond to alarms wherever there’s more than a proverbial fire. Judith Zdesar accompanies volunteer firefighters in their everyday routines. With a focus on emotional challenges rather than on the spectacle, the portrait of the institution develops into a study of how people deal with crisis situations: it is impossible to predict when, where, and how the next catastrophe will occur. That it will happen, is certain.
Alarm
Many are familiar with being afraid of the night. Judith Zdesar confronts her phobia with a month long journey through the darkness of the polar winter. Locals talk about how they deal with the inhospitable conditions, ponder ghosts and wild animals. Ruled by the rhythm of the night, their daily routines seem to be shaped by risks as well as a pleasant calm, perhaps due to the wait for the first redeeming ray of sunlight.
