A VB officer regulates the arrival of fans at Sparta. He'd like to go too, but there are more fans in their ranks and they have to rotate duty. So he just asks for the scores of everyone he knows in the street and elsewhere. He visits a pub, chats with the barmaid and invites her to watch the end of the game right on the pitch, by then he'll be off duty. But on his next errand, he is stopped by a frantic father whose wife has just given birth...
The film was based on the novel "Milión" by Karel Štorkán. The book and the film depict the events surrounding the great construction disaster in Prague in 1928, in which 46 construction workers died. The disaster thrilled the entire republic at the time, yet was never fully explained. The filmmakers focus on the story of Ing. Vondrák, the designer of the construction.
After their young daughter dies suddenly from a viral infection, Marie and Petr struggle to cope with the silence and emptiness left in their apartment. The couple drifts apart as Marie sinks into deep isolation while Petr attempts to distract himself through work and social interactions. Eventually, they decide to try for another child in an effort to move forward and rebuild their fractured relationship.
