Witse is a Dutch language crime drama produced by Belgian broadcaster VRT and broadcast on their één channel. It is also shown on BVN. First broadcast in 2004, as of 2010 the programme comprises eight series with a ninth and final series planned for 2012. It stars Hubert Damen as the eponymous Witse, a driven inspector in the Belgian federal police based in Halle. It is one of the most popular Flemish television programmes with some 1.6 million viewers. There are also Witse books. The first three were based on the last two episodes of each season, but since 2010 every six months a brand new story is published, written and invented by established Belgian writers, as Bob Van Laerhoven and Bart Van Lierde. The story centers around a group of friends (and girlfriends) who have been playing football together for over 10 years, and who are now getting everything ready for their 500th match.

Dennis Davids is a young, talented and idealistic lawyer in Antwerp, who takes every case at heart, even the pro-deo clients the court assigns for a meager fee. Needless to say he really goes the extra mile, risking his life and his career as his own private detective, in the case of Sandra Van Rompaey, a female kick-boxer who also proves herself as his lover, but is a miserable client, repeatedly violating her probation terms as well as the law.

One day, gnome Plop receives a letter from his uncle Knap. It states that Uncle Knap is very ill and that he can only heal if he drinks the juice of the Carbuncle root, but that root unfortunately only grows in Plop's forest and there isn't enough time left. Klus decides to build a real airship with which the gnomes can fly to Uncle Knap, but the journey is difficult and not without dangers..

The 1950s. A family has its annual family reunion to commemorate the anniversary of mother's death. People drink and eat heavily and after a while all restrictions are lost. Family members start venting old frustrations, discussions and tensions. Eventually one homosexual young man gets depressed and a drama escalates.

Willem is furious when a journalist makes fun of him because he acts hysterical in court during the Agusta scandal. He decides to kidnap the man and find out everything about him, but he discovers more than he bargained for.
