Spring of 1918. The heroes of Shukshin's play are indeed energetic people in the full sense of the word. Jacks of all trades, quick-witted and dishonest, grabbers and thieves, who can be called businessmen of the era of socialism, for whom there was no use for their practical acumen and intelligence. Tovstonogov and the actors breathed true life into these characters.
