Talkie remake of a 1927 silent about the adventures of the notorious womaniser and venetian adventurer Chevalier Giacomo Casanova. Action starts in Venice and then the plot takes Casanova to France and Russia.

In 19th century France, Jean Valjean, a man imprisoned for stealing bread, must flee a relentless policeman named Javert. The pursuit consumes both men's lives, and soon Valjean finds himself in the midst of the student revolutions in France.

A vindicative and spiteful captain carefully plots his vengeance against his best friend who lured away from him the woman he loved.

An idealistic youth finds sincere love after having been toyed with by several frivolous women who were not serious.
