Mario, a member of the terrorist group ETA during Franco's dictatorship, drastically changes the course of his life when, with democracy in place, the organization decides to continue killing.

Vitoria, Basque Country, Spain, March 3, 1976. After several months of protests demanding decent working conditions, a general strike is called. Thousands of workers gather at the church of San Francisco while a hundred heavily armed policemen wait to act.

A young drug addict who has lost touch with her rich family hits rock bottom when she sells her new-born baby to child traffickers. She soon regrets her decision and finds the courage and strength to get him back. To do so, she must follow a trail into the woods and find an eerie house where the old lady she met, her albino servant and a girl with a strange gait, all live together. Nothing could have prepared her for the horror she is about to discover.

1971. Three pregnant teenagers are interned in a flat in Bilbao to hide what in that time was a terrible disgrace, to be a single mother. Current time. Violet, NORA NAVAS, is a brave, strong woman that will insist on finding the truth. Helped by Angel, MIKEL LOSADA, what happened in that flat in Bilbao during the last days of Franco regime.

Madrid, 1953. Gilda is a young orphan who difficultly survives in a ruined, post-civil war Spain. Opportunistic, ambitious and ruthless, she dreams of becoming a radio speaker and wants to get an official union card, a requisite for the job. She doesn't hesitate in joining an ultra-catholic fraternity and to become a police informant. But the suicide in prison of her aunt, a militant Republican, threatens to ruin her plans. She has only one solution left : to use her charms.

Alicia is a judge like her father was, murdered by ETA twenty-seven years ago. Now she lives with her husband Ricardo in a residential area in the suburbs of Bilbao. In the house next door lives Rosa, a great friend of the couple, along with her daughter Maria, a teenager confronting the world who has just started a troubled relationship with Andoni, a youngster quite like her who lives with his father Antonio, a former member of the terrorist band, in the slums of the city. Six characters who will find themselves dragged by the very same current of events, both present and past, until a shared feeling of orphanage comes to the surface in all of them.

Can Marguerite Duras cure us of madness? Can that woman who is mute in soul be crazy? This film, through analog casting, explores the representations of madness in silent films of the 20s and 30s.
