A group of men obsessed with oil gather in a remote oil field region. Ichiro Kitazawa (Tatsuzaki) was one of them. He had a daughter-in-law named Harue Saijo (Takasugi), but he felt no affection for her. Ichiro, however, had spent the inheritance Harue had inherited from her father to find oil. Ichiro was now being bled by Butterfly (Hidaka), an eccentric female waitress at the Kinryu-tei. Harue took a train one day to visit Ichiro. She then befriended a man called Ken Matsuki (Dainikata), who had saved her from a crisis. Matsuki was a friend of Kitazawa, a man who was also passionate about the oil search.

The story follows Misako Kitaoka, a junior college graduate and Nitto Lease sales department employee, as she grows through work, love, and friendship. For the sake of the company's managing director and his wife, Misako recommends her colleague Tensuke Sone to Fusako, the managing director's daughter and best friend. Fusako and Sone meet at the executive director's Karuizawa villa, but for some reason Kensuke becomes angry when he learns that Misako is the one who recommended him...

Motoko Fujikawa works in the Seisen Church as an assistant to pastor Maki Inokichi. Fujie Kakimoto's (Sadako Sawamura) son Koichi (Eiji Wakasugi) came to know about Sumiko and asked her to marry him after coming to Shinya to ask for her design. Knowing that Shinya's love for Yuriko would not be easily wiped away, Sumiko decided to marry Koichi, who had a bad leg. Shinya watches the beautiful bond between Koichi and Sumiko and decides to forget his past and move forward on the path to self-perfection.
