Roth and loosely based on ABC's 1994 teen drama My So-Called Life. The series focuses on the life of student Alex Degenhardt, who deals with everyday life and sometimes frustrating friends, Claudia and Niko, as well as her family; her little brother Basti and her Hippie-parents Hendrik and Anke. Karl Schmidt aka Charly himself was once an aspiring artist on the scene, until he retired after a nervous breakdown five years ago. Since then he lives in a supervised withdrawal WG in Hamburg. Now, as a driver and custodian for the party-loving DJs and their producers, he becomes part of "Magical Mystery", trying to lead a self-determined life after years of patronizing and well-intentioned advice.

Frank Lehmann, 20, still lives with his parents in the dreary high-rise housing project "Neue Vahr" in Bremen. It's the year 1980 and Frank gets drafted to the army even though his friends assure him that "he's not really the guy for it". When he gets back home, after his first week at the army, his Dad has turned his room into a TV repair shop, so Frank has to move out. Luckily his old friend Martin is starting a commune with two other Punks in Bremens leftist borough "Viertel". Frank, without further ado rents the unlivable walk-through room. From now on Frank is a traveler between the Worlds. Each week he goes from the Army, with all the unconditional rules and regulations to the commune where his friends are preaching the world revolution. Frank is trying to avoid to stick out, but fails miserably, in both worlds.

While getting a beer in the police canteen, Docker is spied on by the BKA for a special secret mission: an attack is planned on an Indian maharajah during his visit to Germany. In the operation 'Falscher Hase' (False Rabbit), Docker is to serve as convincing personal protection. Shortly afterwards, he finds himself disguised as a double in an ambassador's limousine - opposite him is the maharajah's little prince and his beautiful Italian chaperone Selinda, with whom he promptly falls in love. When he brags to his colleague Dretzke about the whole affair, it leads to a chain of dramatic but also wonderfully funny events in which the model boys find themselves in dire need of an explanation.
