The story follows Qaseh, a single mother who has a teenage daughter named Leyla. Qaseh teaches the neighborhood children to recite the Quran, but finds it difficult to guide Leyla, who has become increasingly rebellious since befriending Zek. Feeling cornered, Leyla runs away from home. Qaseh continuously tries to persuade Leyla to return, with help from her friend's son named Shafiq. Leyla remains stubborn, and Qaseh meets Ustaz Syed Alwi, an old friend who invites her to teach at his Quranic memorization school. Leyla becomes remorseful, guilty and moved after finding out that her mother donated a kidney for her after she was involved in an accident.
