Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

A wicked witch locked Rapunzel in a tall tower without doors. Whenever she wanted to enter, the witch would call, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair", and Rapunzel would lower her extremely long hair for the witch to climb. Years pass until one day a prince, riding through the forest, heard her beautiful singing and was captivated.

The king turns 70 in a few days, when he is supposed to give up his crown. His sister has waited for this day all her life: Finally, she will step out of her brother's shadow and assume power in the realm. Or will the king's son assume the throne instead? Only if he has a princess at his side.

Jorinde and Joringel are lovers and would like to get married. But on a walk in the forest, they find themselves near a castle belonging to an wicked witch. She is jealous of their love and wants to destroy it. She decides to set Joringel free after taking away Jorinde, content with that the lovers will never see each other again.

The town of Hoyerswerda is emblematic of the demise of the GDR. Everything that this town represented was swallowed up by the fall of communism. The people were left without any market worth. A citizens’ dance project helps them to live with the shame. A sensually choreographed, empathetic film.

A traveling cameraman and father of three observes what happens when human skills no longer command a "market value".
