Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

Charlotte, a writer, has secluded herself to a Mediterranean island in order to work on her new novel. She is looking for inspiration from her surroundings, like her neighbor Robert whose relationship is showing first signs of wear. Yet, the ideal model for the protagonist of her novel, an astronaut’s wife, seems to be her landlady Renate. Charlotte starts to delve into the life of Renate and the more she keeps immersing herself, the more she is confronted with her own painful history.
