Biography
A well-known Turkish comedy actor. Karakaya educated in Kabataş Erkek Lisesi. He took part in several stage and film productions between years 1955 and 2002. He is best remembered with his famous character "Cilalı İbo" (Ibo the Polished). He died of heart failure at the age of 76. Due to his competent Molière interpretations, he was awarded with Légion d'Honneur. He was laid to rest at the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery following the religious funeral ceremony held in Teşvikiye Mosque on 26 April 2004, at the time when he could not see his latest movie released.
Known For

The film tells the story of a love affair between two young people who hide their true identities. A wealthy father from Adana sends one of his sons to Istanbul with his brothers to marry the daughter of an old friend. The three brothers meet their other brother, Ömer, who left home years ago. Ömer, an engineer, needs money. His brother, who does not want to marry, convinces Ömer to take his place. Meanwhile, Filiz, who is being forced to marry by her father, switches roles with the housekeeper. Ömer believes Filiz to be a poor housekeeper, while Filiz thinks Ömer is a wealthy playboy. Though they initially cannot get along, the two will grow closer over time.

The film tells the story of the comical events that happen to Şemsi. Şemsi is an ordinary dentist who goes to work every day and is faithful to his wife. His friend İlhan, on the other hand, is a lazy man who spends every night with a different woman. One night, unable to resist İlhan's insistence any longer, Şemsi goes to a nightclub to have a few drinks. There, he meets Şükran. Losing control, Şemsi finds himself asleep in his room the next morning. What's more, Şükran is there with him. In 1959, a new comic actor, Feridun Karakaya starts a series with Cilali Ibo (Ibo, the Polished One) and becomes popular around the 1960s and 1970s. Cilalı ibo Teksas Fatihi (Cilali Ibo the Texas Conqueror) is a parody/pastiche of the Western genre, scripted by Osman F. Seden.
