Cellat, the Turkish version of Death Wish, sticks fairly close plot wise to the template of the American film, with some scenes and bits of dialogue being almost identical. However, it also deviates from its inspiration at times and is at its most interesting and valuable in these little moments, providing lurid snapshots of a place and a culture.

The story revolves around Kurt Bey's journey to defend the Ottoman Empire and rescue his brother. Malkoçoğlu Ali Bey is killed in battle. He leaves the plans for the location of Don Castillani's treasure, divided into two necklaces, to his twin sons, Doğan Bey and Kurt Bey. However, Prince Murat, who opposes the sultan, and his man Mahmut Bey, join forces with Duke D'Alvarez and kidnap Doğan Bey.
