Biography
Luiza Parvu is a filmmaker, visual artist, and educator based in Tempe, AZ. She is a member of the European Film Academy. She holds an MFA in Film Production from New York University's Tisch School of The Arts, New York, USA. She is an experienced media maker with professional working knowledge of all areas of production and post-production. Her directing and editing work covers a variety of genres, in both fiction and creative non-fiction: documentary, multimedia installation, immersive media, and commercial. The award winning films she has directed or edited so far have been recognized in film festivals and events worldwide such as Karlovy Vary IFF, Sundance FF, BFI London, Busan IFF, Transilvania IFF, Tribeca FF or Abu Dhabi IFF. In 2012, she was a nominee in the Rising Star category at the GOPO Romanian Film Industry Awards for directing her short film Draft 7.

In the aftermath of the Darr mine blast in Pennsylvania (winter 1907), Romanian immigrant cobbler Petru waits for his cousin Pavel's pregnant wife to arrive at their home after the 40 day trip across the Atlantic. A man of few words, Petru is in love with Anna, but he's also the one who needs to break her the news about the recent death of her husband. Petru must make a decision and take the responsibility of changing her forever, as Anna needs to find the strength to reveal the strong woman behind the teenager she is.
