Manuel travels to the small fishing village where his recently deceased wife, Paula, spent her childhood. There he meets Rosa, the owner of a restaurant; Héctor, whom he entrusts with rebuilding his wife's dilapidated family home; Toto, a colorful and helpful fisherman who was Paula's schoolmate; and Julia, a young architect who lost her daughter shortly after birth, and with her all hope of happiness.

The arrival of the Minister of Social Welfare turns on a light of hope. But it soon goes out. The minister is fleeing persecuted by a corruption case. It is then that Jacinto triggers a series of events that will finally change the state of affairs.

The film tells the story of a group of musicians, mostly elderly, who belong to one of the caiçara communities that inhabit the island of Ilhabela, on the Brazilian coast of São Paulo.
