Rafferty's Rules was an Australian television drama series which ran from 1987 to 1990 on the Seven Network. Rafferty's Rules was one of the first programs undertaken by the Seven Network's then new in-house drama unit, going into production in May 1985 as "a 15-part courtroom drama". The program had started out as a pilot episode, recorded in early 1984 with the actor Chris Haywood in the lead role. When the pilot episode was remounted later in 1984, Chris Haywood wasn't available and the lead role was re-cast to John Wood. This second recording was eventually broadcast as the program's first episode.

Sydney New Year's Eve is an annual multi-tiered event held every New Year's Eve over Sydney Harbour, centering on the Harbour Bridge. Its main features are two pyrotechnic displays, the 9pm Family Fireworks and the Midnight Fireworks, both of which are televised nationally with the latter also televised around the world. Each year the event takes on a new theme and is regularly viewed by more than one million people at the harbour and one billion worldwide for the televised Midnight Fireworks. For the 2010–11 event, an audience of 1.5 million watched the display at the river bank and 1.1 billion are reported to have watched it globally.

An ex-convict finds his conscience impeding on his ability to focus on his grim new assignment in this gritty, low-budget crime thriller from Australia. Upon release from prison, Julian is the new accountant, and placed him in charge of the Hobby House, a place where lonely gangsters go for a little female companionship. But it all starts to fall apart when Julian witnesses the brutalization of the gang's sexual slaves, and realizes he can't be complicit in such abhorrent behavior.
