At a high school entrance ceremony, high school student Kotoko Aihara, who isn't that smart, notices pretty boy Naoki Irie. She falls in love with him immediately. Kotoko initially doesn't express her feelings to him, but finally has a chance to tell him how she feels. Unfortunately, Naoki turns Kotoko down, saying "I don't like dumb women." One day, Kotoko Aihara's house is severely damaged by an earthquake. Until the house is rebuilt, Kotoko Aihara and her father decide to live with her father's friend. On Ishigaki Island, conflict brews over a large-scale bridge construction project. One day, Yajima (Sho Aoyagi), a public official from the Ministry of Environment, is sent to Ishigaki Island. Yajima announces to his colleagues that he is absolutely opposed to the bridge construction project and that he wil become a coral ranger who protects the coral reef there. This surprises his colleagues.

Step aside, GTO, class is in session and Yuichi Hoshino, with his bowl cut, is leading it. Hoshino is an old-fashioned "hot-blooded teacher," which means he uses his upbeat never-say-die attitude to bulldoze people into education. He has been assigned to a rural school as a substitute teacher, which is where he finds that his attitude might not be enough as Hoshino confronts the children of 2025 who are suffering from a variety of issues. For instance, there is Kana, who is a Highly Sensitive Person and has resorted to e-learning. Meanwhile Eita labours under a strict father whose overly-demanding attitude causes stress. As Hoshino communicates with the kids and their parents, his attitude crashes into the complications surrounding contemporary education.
