In a bizarre and decadent society, faceless characters are tirelessly trying to appeal to a body of bureaucrats in order to finally be allowed to have a face. Will they be happy when they can get a nose, a pair of eyes and a mouth?

An impressive parable where the artist’s creativity is paralyzed by the dull crowd can be seen as a metaphor for a totalitarian system. Cleverly designed animation shows the artist as a tied man whose creativity is hindered by the crowd. A visually attractive film with very interesting editing won an award at the Annecy festival in 1983.

An Artist violently grinds stones and uses the sand to create animated drawings. His first picture is the Garden of Eden. Once Eve becomes pregnant, all the tribulations of the real world are unleashed upon her. She follows through dream-like sequences populated with crying birds, brick-wall-faced bureaucrats and pensive philosophers in seemingly petrified poses. Irritated, repressed and allured by each other, the creatures on the screen start living a life of their own. Gradually, a dark climax builds up. Will the Artist himself be able to handle so much emotional intensity

A massive army of workers sweat and strain to build a tower not unlike that of Babel. In spite of the ominous danger of the tower collapsing at any moment, they press on gloomily, incessantly forming column after column of labourers, like some enormous procession of lemmings.
Watching from the stars, an all-seeing creature observes a society of sentient beans — the joys, triumphs, and tragedies of day-to-day life on their planet — until the busy inhabitants finally notice the watcher’s leering gaze.
It’s that time of year when unwanted items of furniture from a Budapest tenement block are chucked out. Among the discarded antique furniture, a Thonet chair sets off on a road trip to leave the dusty urban cityscape behind and, via the concrete jungle of newbuild flats and the broken-down rust belt, finally return to nature.
