Biography
Ardak Jamansarievich Amirkulov (Kazazh: Ардақ Жамансарыұлы Әмірқұлов; born December 10, 1955; Akkol) is a Soviet and Kazakhstani film director. Honored Worker of Kazakhstan (2016). Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1992). Knight of the Order of "Kurmet" (2005). In 1977 he graduated from the Pedagogical Institute. He worked at the Kazakhfilm film studio. In 1988 he graduated from the directing Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (workshop of S. Solovyov). From 1992 to 2002 — Director of the Kazakhfilm film studio. He taught at the Almaty Theater and Art Institute, since 1996 - professor.

After Gulsary wins a race, the new commissar of the collective lays claim to the beloved and headstrong horse, which leads to a battle of a wills. Tanabay and Gulsary are both punished and separated for their refusal to bend to the rules of the Stalinist era.
