Andreas, nephew of the abbot of the Monastery of Dionysios, who died eight years previously, arrives at Agion Oros (Mount Athos) with a team of smugglers of antiquities, with the intention of stealing a gold cross set with precious gems, known as the Cross of Alexander the Great. He earns the trust of the meek and hospitable monks. However, a Jewish girl, Anna - whom, while still a baby during the war, her father had entrusted to the care of the hermit Vasileios - continues to pretend she is a young monk. She manages gradually to discover the entire scheme and acts to foil their plot.
Jenny Skoutari, a student and the daughter of a party local commander Kosmas Skoutaris, gets use to visit the private library of - her father's political rival - the shipowner Miltos Kassandris. Kassandris prepares his nephew - and a childhood friend of Jenny - Nikos Mantas, as a candidate for the next election. Mantas' rival has a lead, and is backed by Skoutaris, who is facing financial problems. So Kassandris decides to force Jenny to marry his nephew with a fake marriage, while at the same time financially breaks down her father in order to secure the election of his nephew. An extremelly honest man, Timoleon Lambrou (Dinos Iliopoulos), who has lost his job many times due to his honesty finds a wallet full of cash and a letter from the USA that belongs to a military General who is the president o a large public organisation and decides to return it. The General's wife though, Lia (Rena Vlahopoulou), covers for her brother (Andreas Douzos) who has embezzled from her husband's organisation and the letter proves the lies and embezzlements. Finally, Lia gets hold of the letter despite the honest man's objections but the General, decides to hire him due to his honesty. There, he discovers the embezzlements and when he tells everything to the General, his wife and her brother try to prove that he is crazy, a crook, a communist and anti-systemic, things that usually make the General furious. The honest man is imprisoned but in the end Lia decides to come forth with the truth.
Aris, Nikos Kourkoulos, is released from prison after three years, and he turns up at Troumpa, a slum area in Piraeus. His purpose is not to settle his own accounts but to find out if Lola (Tzeni Karezi), a young woman who works at Stelios’ cabaret, was among the ones who betrayed him. Aris loves and cares about Lola and wants to get her out of there, but Stelios, who is also in love with her, assigns a thug to kill Aris.

However, he refuses to resign after the first year and Polynieces raises an army and attacks Thebes, and they kill each other. The ruler of Thebes Creon decrees that Eleocles should have an honorable burial while the body of the traitor Polyneices should be left on the battlefield to be eaten by the jackals and vultures. However, Antigone, who was betrothed to Creon's surviving son Haemon, defies Creon's orders and buries her brother. When Creon is reported of the attitude of Antigone, he sentences her to be placed in a tomb alive. Antigone hangs herself in the tomb and Haemon tries to kill his father first and then he kills himself with his sword...

He secretly seizes Gregory and puts in place his twin brother Ivan Simeonov, whom the Bulgarians have kidnapped and raised as theirs. The "savior" fools the villagers, but not Gregory's fiancé.
